Retiring from Wrestling
By Ric 'The Equalizer'Drasin

There comes a time in every man's life when you have to put things behind you and move on to something else and do it in a positive manor. Such is my life in Pro Wrestling. I've been involved in this business for 35 years and have had much love for it as most of you know. It's a part of me and always will be. Being in this business is an addiction and a hard one to break. When I was younger and would sit with the 'old timers', they would tell me stories of the road and I was eager to hear them. I thought that day for me was so far off that it would never come. Now I have come to the realization that it is here upon me. You have no idea how this saddens me and emotionally hurts after so many years of being active. I felt that I could go on forever and mentally I can, but my body says NO! Yes, I've kept in great shape and yes I can do a lot that most others my age can't but injury and healing takes longer and takes more out of me each and every time.

This past week I tore out my quadriceps, just above my knee. I felt then that this is the 2nd time on this leg that I have had an injury and it would be ok. AS it started to heal, 4 days later, it gave out, I fell and did the same injury to the left leg. Now I'm on crutches and in a wheel chair 'temporarily'. I must add temporarily as I will be back up and moving and in the gym training. BUT, at this point, more caution and no more risks.

I have a very loving wife 'Randi', children, Sami 10, Shane 20 and Adam 23 and I want to live a long life to spend with them as they are the most important people in my heart and life. To consistently destroy myself is selfish on my part, as they need me around.

I have officially decided to retire from Pro Wrestling as of now. But, I will continue to do TV commercials, films and train those who want to learn, run shows and most likely limit it to announcing and commentating and of course pass on my knowledge and lend a hand to the younger generation that loves this business as much as I have. I would have never conquered all the things I have in life if I hadn't had the drive to be a Pro Wrestler and get through all the ups and downs of the business.

I want to thank all of you friends and acquaintances that I have had through the years and have supported me. AS without you, it would have meant nothing. I also want all of you fellow wrestlers to know that my door and heart are always open to you for anything you ever need of me and please don't hesitate to call me.

Your's in Pro Wrestling and Your's in Friendship,

Ric "The Equalizer" Drasin
