ORIGINAL GOLD'S GYM T- SHIRT Circa 1971

Designed and drawn by Ric Drasin

These are the 3 originals. This was the start of the Mecca of Gold's. After these shirts were printed and worn and seen by others, the name began to grow and the logo was established. The White tank top as was printed by the manager of Golds at the time, 'Ken Waller' and we printed only 1 dozen. The other 11 are MIA and I have the ONLY remaining one! , it was a front/back design.

I drew the original design on a napkin at lunch with Waller and the owner of Gold's at the time in which we took it to Ace trophy and began the process of printing. There's a quick video clip on my site that talks about it.

All 3 shirts have my signature which was then part of the design and had been for many years after. I have had some offers on them before but never really felt that I wanted to part with them. It's not the shirt itself as you know, but it's a representation of the beginning of an era never to be done again. It represents the foundation of Gold's and the legend it's left behind. You can see the difference in these logos as the print design, lettering, etc was much smaller. I do have a larger one that has Santa Monica under it and that came about when the gym was moved to 2nd street, also signed by me. That too was a limited run and there seem to be none around.

I wore these shirts during my training sessions when Arnold and I were training for contests.
